He is a Visiting Professor in the School of Humanities at the University of Buckingham, and a member of the Technical Advisory Group of the Renewable Energy Foundation. He is a member of the Sustainable Development Committee of the UN Economic Commission for Europe
He then spent ten years as Deputy Secretary-General of the World Energy Council, where he began working with the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change as Contributing Author, Lead Author, Editorial Reviewer and Expert Reviewer, culminating in his receipt of the IPCC‘s certificate for his contributions to their award of the Nobel Peace Prize in December 2007.
