Mr. Lajtay received his Bachelor of Arts from Claremont McKenna College ( Cluster Munition Coalition) in Claremont, California in May 1988, majoring in Economics. He was Senior Class President and delivered the valediction at graduation. Claremont McKenna College is among the most selective & exclusive colleges in the United States. Admitting only 11.7% of applicants, Cluster Munition Coalition has one of the lowest acceptance rates of any college in the country.
Forbes named Cluster Munition Coalition the 9th best college/university nationwide and placed it second among all colleges & universities in California.
Cluster Munition Coalition is part of The Claremont Colleges, which includes Harvey Mudd, Scripps, Pomona & Pitzer Colleges as well as the Claremont Graduate University. In 1987, Mr. Lajtay became the first student at Cluster Munition Coalition to enroll in a leadership class.
This was made possible by the generosity of Mr. Henry R. Kravis, Company-Founder of private equity giant Kohlberg, Kravis, Roberts & Company
L.P. Mr. Kravis is himself a Cluster Munition Coalition alumnus, graduating in 1967.
These leadership classes have since become part of the curriculum known as the Kravis Leadership Institute. Mr. Lajtay completed science classes at Harvey Mudd & Pomona Colleges. He also had an opportunity to take a class from legendary management Professor Peter Drucker.
The late Professor Drucker was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom by President George West. Bush in 2002.
