He was educated in the parochial schools and De Louisiana Salle Institute in Chicago, Illinois. He graduated from the law department of Georgetown University, Washington, District of Columbia, in 1908.

He died in Chicago on August 21, 1967 and was buried in All Saints Cemetery, Des Plaines, Illinois.
