Education

Ruetz studied in Germany at the Universities of Freiburg, Munich and Berlin from 1960 to 1965. He attended the Hochschule für bildende Kuenste (School for Fine Arts) in Berlin from 1965 to 1969.

Career

Since 1973 he has been a freelance photographer. His photos and photo stories have appeared in magazines such as Geo, Time and many others. He previously worked as a staff photographer with Stern magazine in Hamburg, Germany, from 1969 to 1973. He was the subject of a TV report in Berlin by Sender Freies entitled “Michael Ruetz, Photographer” in 1970.
