Michael W. Salandra is an information technology and staffing-industry executive who served as president and chief executive officer of TEKsystems and chief executive officer of Allegis Group. His career at Aerotek and related Allegis companies developed alongside the expansion of contract engineering, information-technology staffing, and workforce-management services.
Background
Salandra was associated with the professional staffing industry in the Baltimore–Washington region, where Aerotek and its successor companies developed from a Maryland-based contract engineering business into a diversified workforce-services group. Public records place him in Woodbine, Maryland, during the period following his corporate career.
Career
Salandra began working in the professional staffing industry with Aerotek in 1986. Aerotek had been founded in Maryland in 1983 to provide contract engineering personnel for the aerospace and defense industries; during the 1980s and 1990s, its activities expanded into information technology, telecommunications, and other specialized staffing fields.
He later served as president and chief executive officer of TEKsystems, an Allegis Group operating company that grew from Aerotek's data-services and telecommunications activities. TEKsystems developed into a major provider of information-technology staffing, consulting, and technology services during the expansion of the internet, telecommunications, and enterprise-computing industries.
From July 2009 until his retirement on October 1, 2014, Salandra was chief executive officer of Allegis Group. The company, formed as the parent organization for Aerotek, TEKsystems, and other operating businesses, provided staffing, talent-management, workforce-management, and related professional services. After leaving Allegis Group, he became involved in private business ventures in Maryland.
