Michael graduated from Stonyhurst College in 1939 (his 1939 scholarship delayed by WWII service). He studied as a Scholar at Oriel College at Oxford University, England. In 1947 Michael received the Batchelor of Arts in Modern Languages. In 1952 he became degree a Master of Arts in Modern Languages. He studied at London Business School in 1970's.
Career
Michael worked as a third secretary in British Embassy in Stockholm, Sweden from 1948 to 1951. He was second secretary in Washington, United States from 1951 to 1953. First secretary in Tel Aviv, Israel from 1956 to 1959. Head of chancery La Paz, Bolivia, 1959-1961, Vienna, Austria, 1961-1963. Member American Department Foreign Office, London, 1953-1955. Inspector diplomatic establishments worldwide, 1964-1967. British Ambassador to El Salvador, San Salvador, 1967-1970. Founder, Academia Britaníca Cuzcatleca (ABC), Latin American Republican-Designate Thomas De La Rue Ltd., 1971-1972. Deputy head energy department Rio Tinto Zinc, London, 1974-1975. Religion
Michael Wenner was an early supporter of the pioneering "Anglican Use/ Pastoral Provision" (Precursor of the Anglican Ordinariate) which began with Vatican approval in Texas in the 1980s.
After he retired to the UK, the Ordinariate was instituted in the UK (2010) and the USA (2012); he has continued to support both.
Michael Wenner and his wife in 2003 designed and donated their Family memorial "Nature Window" featuring the Wenner family device, a winnowing basket, in the east wall of the narthex of Houston's Ordinariate Cathedral of Our Lady of Walsingham.
They are the first "cradle" Catholics to be members of both the UK and USA Anglican Ordinariate. Mrs Wenner is a member of the British National parish council.
Politics
In the USA Michael Wenner is a Republican of libertarian tendencies. In the UK he grew increasingly skeptical of the UK's continued membership in the European Union, which he saw as neo-fascist. His views as an American Citizen are influenced by his study and appreciation of Texas history & culture, and he considers himself an ardent Texan.
