Hydrographer state engineer’s office, Denver, 1901-1902. District engineer United States Geological Survey, in charge of hydrographic work in Colorado, and later in seven states, 1902-1907. Engineer for United States Reclamation Service in charge of surveys, designs and estimates of cost for a 60,000 acre project in Southern Colorado and Northern New Mexico, 1903-1904.

Engineer in charge of surveys, location and construction of a 28,000 horsepower hydro-electric installation on Colorado River, near Glenwood Springs, 1906-1907. Designed and engineer on construction of hydro-electric power plants, dams, irrigation projects in Colorado, California, Wyoming, Arizona, New Mexico, etc., 1907-1923. Construction engineering for State of California on San Gabriel and Pine Canyon dams.

State engineer of Colorado since 1923, with supervision over all water supplies and construction of all dams and reservoirs. Chairman State Irrigation District Commission. Secretary and treasurer State Board of Examiners for Engineers and Land Surveyors, official in charge of negotiation and administration of all interstate river compacts.

Interstate river commissioner since 1932.
