Michal Sobotka, Czech astronomer. Achievements include research in small-scale structures in sunspots: brightness, size, spatial distribution, and motions of umbral dots and penumbral grains; research in interaction of solar pores with surrounding granulation: Penetration of granules into pores, flows around pores; research in infrared photometry of solar active regions; development of feature-tracking code for high-resolution solar observations.
