Michel L'Affilard was a tenor singer and the writer of a notable book on singing. He also sang in the choir of Louis XIV in the period of 1683-1708.
He wrote an important work on sight-singing "Principes trés faciles pour bien apprendre la musique", which passed through seven editions (Paris, 1691; Amsterdam, 1717).
