Michel Parfenov studied at the National School of Oriental Languages (Paris, 1961-1964), at the philological faculty of the Sorbonne (now University of Paris 1 Pantheon-Sorbonne) (1959-1965).
Michel Parfenov founded (1979) and headed the Paris publishing house "Solin". Author of the prefaces and comments in the books of French and Russian writers of the XIX - XX centuries. Founder of the series "Russian classics" (in Russian) in the Paris publishing house "Booking International" (1994-1995).
Michel Parfenov visited Voronezh on several occasions (since 1994). In 1999 participated in the Platon’s Scientific Conference and arranged book-gifts in the Voronezh Regional Universal Scientific Library named after I.S. Nikitin and secondary school in Novozhivotinnoe village of Ramon district of Voronezh region. At Parfenov’s initiative, a set of the Voronezh "Philological Notes" journal was presented in the Russian section of the Paris Book Fair (2005). Two Voronezh television channels made documentaries about Parfenov (1995-1996).
