Career
Van Rijt started with judo when he was 10 years old. When he was 16 he started with Pencak Silat, later with Wado Ryu Karate and Shotokan Karate at age of 17. When he was 19 he took up Ju-Jitsu.
The most important titles are:
3rd place at Dutch military judo championships, - 71 kg (1990)
3rd place in World Championships Ju-Jitsu, - 69 kg (1998)
3rd place in World Championships Ju-Jitsu, - 77 kg (2000)
In 1999 Michel van Rijt started his own school/club named budosport Van Rijt and changed that name later to Sportcentrum Van Rijt.
He is co-author, with Eric Garnier, of the book Ju-Jitsu: Forbidden Techniques.
