Michisuke Sugi was born in Hagi City, Yamaguchi Prefecture in 1884.
He graduated from Finance Department of Keio University (1909).
First Michisuke Sugi entered the Kuhara Mining company. Later he became president of Yagi Shoten Company and then president of Osaka Textile Manufacturing Company.
He became chairman of Yagi Shoten (1943). He was appointed vice-chairman of Osaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry (1940), and later appointed chairman. Michisuke Sugi was president of the Shin-Nippon Broadcasting Company and a leading financier of the Kansai district.
Shoin Yoshida, leading scholar who taught and trained the political leaders in the Mejij Restoration (1868), was younger brother of his grandfather.
