Michitoshi was the elder brother of Takatoshi Iwamura.

Michitoshi was the elder brother of Takatoshi Iwamura.
The first distinguished himself as commander of the expeditionary army to Tohoku district. After this gave evidence of his administrative ability he became Governor of Saga and of Kagoshima prefectures (1877). Later, in turn, he was chief of Audit Bureau; member of Senate; minister of Agriculture and Commerce (1889); and then created Baron (1896). Yuzo Ha- yashi is his younger brother.
