Michiyo Kogure started her career as a film actress with Shochiku Film Co. (1937). Her career was interrupted, however, when she married and accompanied her husband to Manchoukuo (1942). With the end of war and her return to Japan she picked up her movie career (1949) and was awarded the Mainichi prize for her excellent portrayal of a geisha in "Aoi Sanmyaku" ("Blue Mountain Range").
