OBREGÓNorth LIZANO, Miguel was born on July 19, 1861 in Alajuela. Son of Miguel Obregón Rivera and Ramona Lizano Vega.

Career

Professor in the National Institute, in the Colegio Central, and in the University Institute, 1881-1886. Private secretary to the President of the Republic, 1886-1887. Director of the Alajuela Institute, 1887-1889.

Inspector of schools of San José and later inspector general of education, 1890-1906.

Director-general of public libraries, 18901915. Professor in the Liceo de Costa Rica and in the Colegio Superior de Señoritas of which latter he was also director, 1900-1920.

Official in the Ministry of Public Instruction and president of the “Junta Calificadora del Personal Docente,” 1906-1910. Minister of Public Instruction, 1920-1924.

Minister of Foreign Affairs, 1922-1924.

Director of the Institute of Physical Geography since 1924.
