In 1949 Reale founded the Brazilian Institute of Philosophy, which organized the first Brazilian Congress of Philosophy in 1950. As President of the Institute Reale founded the Revista Brasileira de Filosofa in 1951. As a philosopher oflaw he has made significant contributions with his tridimensional model of the nature and function oflaw.
In his more recent philosophical work. Reale attempts to synthesize Marxist and Hegelian dialectics with Heideggerian and Husserlian phenomenology.
