Mihail Stepanovich participated in the Great Patriotic War. He was a scout of the 957 rifle regiment (the 40th army, the Voronezh Front). He secretly got across the Dnepr river on September 24, 1943 in the region of Balyko-Shchuchinka village (Kaharlyk District, Kyiv Region) with an intelligence group. In returning the group was ambushed and Mihail Stepanovich distinguished himself in this battle. He worked and lived at Yablochny farm after the demobilization.
