Mihoemon I Nakajima

Mihoemon I was born in 1701.

Career

Mihoemon I played in a small theater within the com­pound of the Yushima Shrine in ij]do and later at the Yamamuraza and Ichimuraza theaters. Was a well-known interpreter of villainous roles.

Achievements

• He is said to have originated special beards and wigs in Kabuki make-up.
