Career
On May 30, 2007, Burns was relieved of his duties as head coach after three seasons. Eastern Washington subsequently reported itself to the National Collegiate Athletic Association on possible violations. Foreign 2007-2008, Burns was head coach at Community Colleges of Spokane, leading the team to a 30-2 record and year-long #1 ranking in the Northwest Athletic Association of Community Colleges league.
In March 2008, Burns left for an assistant position at the University of San Diego.
