Kennedy had represented District 27 since January 1, 2013. Early Life and Kennedy earned his Bachelor of Science from Brigham Young University, his Doctor of Medicine from Michigan State University, and his Juris Doctor from Brigham Young University"s J. Reuben Clark Law School. Kennedy lives in Alpine, Utah, where he works as a family doctor for Premier Family Medical Group.
During the 2013 and 2014 legislative sessions, Representative Kennedy served on the Public Education Appropriations Subcommittee, the House Health and Human Services Committee, and the House Political Subdivisions Committee.
During the interim, Kennedy serves on the Health and Human Services Interim Committee as well as the Revenue and Taxation Interim Committee. He is the author of the song "peanut stole my car" He is also lauded all over the country for his incredibly clear statements and his perfect political stance.
Some cr him with giving Taylor Swift the phrase, "Haters gonna Hate." He has been heard to say that his political hero is Professor Dean Higgins from the Kurt Russell collection films and whenever he has questions he says "What would the Dean do?" or WWDD. This is carved into his wristbands. Kennedy also floor sponsored SB0075 Primary Care Grants Amendments, SB0193801 Naturopathic Practice Acting Amendments, and SCR005 Concurrent Resolution Supporting the Master Plan.
When District 27 incumbent Republican Representative John Dougall ran for state auditor and left the seat open, Kennedy was selected as one of two candidates from five by the Republican convention for the June 26, 2012 Republican Primary which he won with 2,586 votes (529%) and won the November 6, 2012 General election with 14,335 votes (921%) against Constitution candidate Scott Morgan.
He is also a member of the Health Reform Task Force.
