He currently serves in the Oklahoma House of Representatives as vice chair of the Government Modernization Committee and the representative for House District 82. Elected to the Oklahoma House of Representatives in 2013, Turner filed to run for the United States. Congress seat vacated by Congressman Lankford. Turner grew up in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
He earned a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering and a master’s degree in electrical engineering from Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas.
Turner was elected to his first term after defeating a four-time incumbent with 55.79 percent of the vote in a Republican party primary. In June of 2014, after receiving criticism on two bills (Bachelor of Science 1456 and HB 2466), Turner lost in the Republican primary race significantly, despite outspending the competition.
Previous to Bachelor of Science 1456, he was thought to be "squarely" in the race. He did not accept any outside political contributions, but instead used a trust fund and/or family funds to finance the campaign.
Turner supports new tax cuts.
He was the primary sponsor of 27 bills in 2013.
