Metalturner by trade. 1902 worked at Sormovo Plant where he was active in workers’ Marxist circles. 1904 arrested and exiled to Ussuri Kray.
1909-1917 Party work in Nizhniy Novgorod, Petrograd, Kiev, Pskov and other places. 1918-1921 Party and military work in Arzamas, Simbirsk and elsewhere. From 1922 in Ukraine.
Secretary, Kobelyak and Krasnograd Okrug Party Committees. Secretary, Poltava Province Control Commission. From 1924 secretary, Krivoy Rog Okrug Committee, Communist Party (Bolsheviks) LIkr.
From 1926 secretary, Lugansk Okrug Committee, Communist Party (Bolsheviks) Ukraine. From 1929, chairman, All-Ukraine Trade-Union Council. 1932-1936 secretary, Donetsk Oblast Committee, Communist Party (Bolsheviks) Ukraine.
