Career
Taught at music colleges in Yekaterinodar, Rostov-on-Don and Moscow. 1925-1935 professor, Moscow and 1935-1944 Leningrad Conservatories. 1944-1951 professor, Moscow Gnesin Musical Teachers’ Training Institute.
Board member, Union of the Soviet Socialist Republics Writers’ Union. Among his students were: B. Klyuzner, A. Leman, G. MusheP, North. Narimanidze, V. Salmanov, A. Stepanyan, A. Khachaturyan, T. Khrennikov, et cetera His Symphonic Monument was one of the first Soviet symphonic works on revol subjects.
Wrote a number of musical works on national themes.
