Graduated from the Perm’ School of Pilots, 1939. Graduated from the Lenin Military Political Academy, 1952, and from the Military Academy of the General Staff, 1959.
Joined the Soviet Army in 1938. Served in World War II as a flight and squadron commander, and deputy commander and navigator of the 155th Guards Assault Aviation Regiment. Made over 200 combat flights.
Twice Hero of the Soviet Union (February 1944 and January 1955). After World War II, held high positions in the air force. Promoted commander of aviation of a military district, November 1967.
Lieutenant-general of aviation, 1968. From 1976, inspector general of the air force attached to the Chief Inspectorate of the USSR Ministry of Defence.

The emphasis on peaceful coexistence doesn’t mean that the Soviet Union accepted a static world with clear lines. Socialism is inevitable and the "correlations of forces" were moving towards socialism.
