Seminary in Lutsk; attended Zagorsk Conference of All Churches and Religious Association Dedicated to the Defense of Peace. Chief Editor, journal “Tserkovny vestnik” (Church Herald). 1957-1959 Professor Ordinarius, Chair of Patristics, Warsaw Orthodox Theol.
Seminary; since 1917 associate, Library of Ukrainia Academy of Sciences. 1945 while archpriest took monastic vows with name Makariy and ordained Bishop of Lvov and Ternopol. 1946 elevated to archbishop.
1949-1951 simultaneously also headed Uzhgorod and Mukachevo Eparchies.
