Mikhail Svechin, USSR Lieutenant-general.


Svechin, Mikhail was born in 1876 in Petersburg.


Graduated from the 2nd Cadet Corps, and from the Nikolaevskoe Cavalry School, 1895. Graduated from the Academy of the General Staff, 1902.


Took part in the Russo-Japanese war and the Civil War. Major-general, 1915. Chief-ofstaff of a cavalry division. Commander of several regiments in the White Army.

Commander of the 1st Cavalry Corps, appointed by Kornilov. Fought in the South and evacuated with the remnants of the White Army, 1920. Chairman of the Nice branch of ROVS (organization of White army veterans in exile).

Very popular figure in the Russian community in the South of France.
