Mikhail Ulianov, USSR Actor, director.


Ulianov, Mikhail was born on November 20, 1927 in the Siberian village of Bergamak.


Moved with his family to the town of Tara on the banks of the Irtysh River. In 1950, graduated from the Shchukin Drama School in Moscow. Actor at the Moscow Vakhtangov Theatre.

Known more as a film actor. First film in 1953, Egor Bulychev and Others. Became famous in the Soviet Union for his part in The Brothers Karamazov (Mosfilm, 1969, director Ivan Pyriev).

One of his most forceful performances was as the leading role in The Chairman (Mosfilm, 1965, director Aleksei Saltykov). Other films include: Ekaterina Voronina, 1957. The Soldiers Were Marching, 1959.

A Simple Story, 1960. The Baltic Sky, 1961. The Silence, 1964; The Flight, 1971.

Liberation, 1972. Artistic director of Moscow’s Vakhtangov Theatre, 1987.
