Career
Joined the Social Democratic Party 1898. Took part in the 1905 Revolution. After the February Revolution 1917, Bolshevik leader in Saratov.
From 1919, high posts in the Cheka, later State Prosecutor, and Deputy Chairman of the High Court of the USSR, 1924-1937.
