Participated in the publication of the correspondence of Metropolitan Evgeny (Bolkhovitinov Evfimiy Alekseevich) with Chancellor N.P. Rumyantsev (1868-1872), was engaged in a history of his family, published a number of works on the history of the Voronezh region of the XVII-XVIII centuries, documents from the family archive. Participated in the work of the IV, VI, VIII and X-th All-Russian Archaeological Congress.

He graduated from the History and Philology Department of St. Petersburg University (1868).
Career
An official of special assignments, then head of the governor's office in Voronezh (1868-1871), secretary of the Voronezh Provincial Statistical Committee (1869-1871). Later he served in St. Petersburg (in His Imperial Majesty's Own Chancery), was in charge of the codification department of the State Council (1882-1888). Provincial leader of the nobility in Voronezh (1888-1896), then director of the Rumyantsev and Moscow public museums.
