Volunteered for the White Army aged 14. In 1920, sent off by General Wrangel to continue his education together with other teenage soldiers. With the Donskoi Cadet Corps, evacuated to Yugoslavia.
In the 1930s, member of the NTS. On dangerous assignments during World War II in occupied Soviet territories. In the post-war years, worked at the Institute for the Study of the USSR in Munich. Moved to the USA, 1949, and settled in San Francisco.
Head of the NTS there until his death. Member of the Cossacks Union and the Cadets Association. In 1978, published a book of poems, Slava Kazach’ia.
Wrote for Russkaia Zhizn’. Book reviewer for Posev.
