Mikhail Aleksandrovich Bogolepov was born on July 29, 1875, in Yalta, Krym, Ukraine.
Mikhail Aleksandrovich was brought up in Moscow, in the hospitable house of Count Sheremetev, and was adopted by the doctor of this public shelter A.G. Bogolepov (1882). In 1896 he graduated from the 4th Moscow gymnasium. In 1901 he graduated from the School of Physics and Mathematics of Moscow University.
From 1901, Mikhail Aleksandrovich taught geography at the gymnasium, then he was a lecturer at the People's University of A.L. Shanyavsky (now Moscow City People's University named after A.L. Shanyavsky), then at the Moscow University (1919). Since 1923, he had been a professor. He published popular science essays for children First Steps into Nature, a comedy Museum of Rubber Figures and some vaudevilles. In addition, he was the author of such popular works on country studies as China and Japan, India, the United States, Muslim Countries, etc. In journalistic brochures, he stood for the equality of women's Happiness in Matrimonial Life and against gambling.
