Career
Brkić played from 1978 to 1983 in FK Zemun spending several seasons in Yugoslav First League appearing in games against best clubs in Yugoslavia, such as FK Partizan, Red Star, Dinamo Zagreb, Hajduk Split, Vojvodina, and the rest. He also played for six years at Bor in second tier football league of Yugoslavia. He was also a coach of Zemun in First League of Serbia and Montenegro.
In second term, he replaced Dragan Lacmanović.
Except making a good results with clubs in Serbia, Milija Brkić was very important person and coach in career development of several national team and international players from Serbia. He was very important in progress of Nenad Milijaš.
Milija Brkić was his coach in youth and senior team of First League of Serbia and Montenegro club Zemun. Also one of his “best products” which was developed in years coached by Brkić, for sure was Ilija Stolica, former striker from Serbia, with impressive international career in top level clubs of Belgium, Spain, Ukraine, Greece and United States of America. In 2010.
But, unfortunately, bad finance situation in club impact that club has a very turbulent season, which will lead to relegation.
After few years of break, Brkić decided to accept the offer to take Budućnost, from Arilje, a place where he lives, and to help them to archive placement to Drina Zone League. They succeeded, without a single recorded loss in season. However, Brkić refused to extend his contract with this club
Brkić hold an official Union of European Football Associations A professional coaching license.
