Mily Possoz was a child, when her family moved to Lisbon, where she attended the local college. She was an apprentice of the painter Emília dos Santos Braga. Since 1904 Possoz continued her education at the Académie de la Grande Chaumière in Paris. She also learned engraving under the supervision of Willy Spatz.
Possoz returned to Portugal in 1909. There she joined the Modernist movement and participated in the exhibitions of comedians and modernists. During this time she also collaborated with several artists of her generation and eventually organized her solo exhibitions.
Mily Possoz worked as an illustrator for a numerous publications, such as the magazines ABC, Athena, Contemporânea, A Portuguese Illustration, etc. She resided in Paris between 1922 and 1937. While in Paris, she met the painter Eduardo Viana. In 1937 she participated in the exhibition of French Engraving, held in Cleveland, United States. The same year she returned to Portugal.
Possoz took part in the decoration of the Japanese Pavilion of the Portuguese World Exhibition in 1940. In the course of this decade she moved to Sintra, where the artist focused mainly on oil painting and watercolour painting. Between 1941 and 1949 she worked with the magazine Panorama.
In 1956, the painter collaborated with Engraving - Sociedade Cooperativa de Grabadores Portugueses. The following year (1957), she met the art collector Machaz, who commissioned several paintings for the decoration of the Hotel Tivoli. She became the author of the decorative program of the Second Class Book in 1958.
Mily Possoz was a prominent artist of the 20th century. She received the Gold Medal from the International Printmaking Jury in 1937. In 1944 she was granted the Sousa Cardoso Award, and in 1949 the Drawing Prize José Tagarro. In 1951 she eceived the Painting Prize of Columbano, later also obtaining Luciano Freire Award and CM Almada Award from the Plastic Arts Exhibition.
She is represented in numerous public and private collections in Portugal, Belgium, the United Kingdom and the United States. Among them are the José de Azeredo Perdigão Modern Art Center, the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation, Lisbon; the Chiado Museum, Lisbon; etc.

In 1956 Possoz joined the Gravura - Sociedade Cooperativa de Grabadores Portugueses. Besides, she was an active member of the Jeune Gravure Contemporaine Society.
