She was educated at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem and the University of Cambridge, where she gained her doctorate and was later awarded a research fellowship and a post-doctoral research fellowship at Girton College.

Career

Research fellow Girton College, Cambridge, 1984—1989. Lecturer/reader medieval history Oxford University, 1989—2000. Professor medieval and early modern history Queen Mary University, London, since 2000.
