Career

He was the Chittenden County Democratic Chair during the 2004 election cycle. Mayor of Burlington

Weinberger was elected mayor of Burlington on March 6, 2012. He is the first Democratic mayor since United States. Senator Bernie Sanders took office in 1981.

In the election for Mayor, Weinberger was endorsed by Sanders as well as former Progressive Mayor Peter Clavelle and Democratic Governor Peter Shumlin.

He was re-elected to a second term on a state holiday, Tuesday, March 3, 2015 (Town Meeting Day in Vermont). Weinberger married Stacy Sherwat in 2000, and they have two daughters, Li Lin and Ada.

He plays catcher for the Burlington Cardinals in an over-35 men"s baseball league. Former Boston Red Sox pitcher Bill Lee is also on the team

In addition to politics, Weinberger was also formerly board president of the Turning Point Center for Chittenden County, and served on the board of the ECHO Lake Aquarium and Science Center.
