1919-1922 senior regt surgeon, 6th Proletarian Division, Red Army. 1922-1925 intern, then assistant professor and associate professor, Faculty Therapy Clinic, 1st Moscow University. 1925-1934 senior associate, Med and Biological Institute, Moscow University.
1933 also sci director. Therapeutic Department, Basmanov Hospital. 1934 head, Therapeutic Department, S.P. Botkin Hospital, Moscow, which housed the 3rd Chair of Therapy, Centr Institute of Postgraduate Med Training from 1935.
Head, 2nd, then 3rd Chair of Therapy, Centr Institute of Postgraduate Med Training. 1938, with other physicians, campaigned for execution of Moscow physicians Pletnyov, Levin, Vinogradov and Kazakov who had been charged with sabotage. 1941-1949 chief therapist, Soviet Army and consultant, Kremlin Therapy and Health Board.
From 1950 in charge of a team of researchers at Institute of Therapy, USSR Academy of Med Sciences. 1952 arrested together with other physicians on charges of espionage and of premeditated incorrect treatment of Party and military leaders. After Stalin’s death rehabilitated and reinstated.
Pioneered field therapy, then a new branch of military medical. Devised a new classification of angina pectoris. Member. Learned Med Council, USSR Ministry of Health.
