1914 graduate L’vov Teachers’ Seminary.
During VVVV 1 drafted into Austrian Army. Early 1920 defected to Red Army. Began lit career in Western Ukraine.
From 1922 lived in Prague, studying at university, while active in Czechoslovak workers’ organizations. October 1923, upon invitation from Farm Workers' Social, emigrated to Canada and engaged in publ, lit work and journalism: journals Rabotnitsa and Mir molodyozhi. Secretary, transport-oceanic branch of "Gart” society
Leading exec in Ukraine Farm VVorkers’Center associate. June 1929 returned to Soviet Ukraine. From 1930 headed ’’Western Ukraine” writers’ associate in Khar’kov.
Editor, journal Zakhidna Ukraina. His dramatic and prose works won recognition as early as the 1920's, were translated into English, German, French, Czechoslovakian, Belorussian and Yiddish and were staged successfully at many theaters. Subjected to reprisals by State Security organs.
