Inspired by hip-hop, soul, funk and Rhythm & Blues Mission Tati cooks up her very own recipe, spicing up festival lineups and bringing some flavour to the national charts. She started out as a back-up singer for bands such as Datarock, Kakkmaddafakka and Superfamily. Mission Tati has sparked international interest and received her much-deserved national breakthrough thin 2015.
Her latest release, the single «Don’t Let Go», gathered love and attention from Okayafrica, The Guardian playlist and a shout out from former British Broadcasting Corporation Radio 1 host Rob da Bank.
She"s been seen and heard on festivals like Nattjazz, Bergenfest, Øyafestivalen and Oslo World Music Festival in Oslo. «Originally from Angola-via-Portugal, the English-speaking Mission Tati effortlessly presses her American soul and hip-hop inspirations on "Be Free", confidently swinging between the neo-soul renaissance of THEEsatisfaction and the ever-loved Janelle Monáest
Those are high aspirations, sure, but Tati separates herself with indignant verses - proving she has something else to offer along the way.» Matt Korman, The 405 magazine (United Kingdom). «Self-described as a “sassy soulmistress,” you might expect to hear Mission Tati’s music in any Spike Lee joint thanks to that downtown, sunshine-filled vibe.
Her single "Shakedown" is something you’ll be jamming to in no time.» Shruti Ganguly, NYLON magazine (United States)
Philosophy Johnson, London Jazz News, states: «Following Farmer"s Market for a midnight show on the same club stage was another great discovery, for me if not for Norway: the singer, rapper and poet Mission Tati is a Norwegian-Angolan from Bergen of whom - although her début album is still awaiting release,- it would be hard to say that she is in any way inferior to Erykah Badu, a clear influence.
Backed by a DJ/mixer who had come with her from Bergen, and a funky rhythm section from Bodø with whom she had rehearsed for just that day, Mission Tati was a total star from start to finish.».
