Mitchell Way

Career

Growing up in Bettendorf, Iowa, Way is a fourth generation driver who started his racing career on the dirt tracks of Iowa & Illinois. First competing in the dwarf series, modifieds and then late models. In January 2006 Way moved to North Carolina to pursue a career in National Association of Stock Car Auto Racing. He landed an entry level mechanic position & over-the-wall fueler at Xpress Motorsports in Mooresville, North Carolina. In late 2009 Kyle Busch Motorsports was formed.

Way was offered a position within this new team

In 2011 Way was promoted to the teams truck chief position. In addition to his truck chief duties he is in also the front tire carrier.

Achievements

• Winning the first race he ever entered at Davenport Speedway, he continued to win for years. Way won the dwarf car championship at Hawkeye Raceway near Blue Grass, Iowa in 2000 and qualified second the first time he entered the Dwarf Carolina Nationals. Way earned a reputation and had been dubbed "Mr. Excitement" after a night when he drove his car off the track three times and still came back to win. In its first year of operation the team won 8 races and the 2010 National Association of Stock Car Auto Racing Camping World Truck Series Owners Championship.
