He was the gunner and the commander of the gun crew of the Guards separate anti-tank fighter battalion (the 8th Guards Army, the 3rd Ukrainian Front, the 1st Belorussian Front) and was distinguished in the battles of Grigoriopol (Moldavian SSR), Glovacov (Poland), Kystrin (now Kostrzyn, Poland).
In 1945, Guard Senior Sergeant Durakov was demobilized. He lived and worked in Vodyanoye village .
