Mitsuo Yamate graduated from Law Department of Kyoto University (1937).
Mitsuo Yamate entered Toyo Spinning Company and served in Central China, Singapore and Java for eight years. Thereafter became offcial of Mie Textile Industry Company and Koa Commercial Company, president of Mie Prefectural Judo Association, chief director of Ise Woolen Textile Company, official of Yokkaichi Orimono (Textile Manufacturing) Company, director of Promotion Department of Democratic Party and vice-chairman of Mie Prefectural Chapter of the same party.
Mitsuo Yamate elected three times to House of Representatives (from 1949). Served also as adviser of Hokusei Towel Industry Association. He became vice-chairman of Diet Members' Association of the newly-organized Japan Democratic Party (1954).
