宮姫
Miyasuhime Princess was born around 110. She was the younger sister of Lord of Owari Province (Aichi Prefecture).
It is said that when Prince Yamato-Takeru happened to pass through Owari while leading an expedition to east Japan he met her and thereupon promised to marry her. After subduing the rebels, he returned and faithfully kept his promise. Shortly after, however, he set forth again on another expedition to Mt. Ibuki after entrusting a sacred sword (Kusanagi-no-Tsurugi) to her. He, however, never returned as he died in Ise Province (Mie Prefecture) in 113. Miyatsuhime, learning of her husband's death enshrined the sword at Atsuta Shrine.
