Ordained priest while still a student. After graduate remained at Saint St. Petersburg Roman Catholic Theological Academy as an instructor for 26 years. Simultaneously catechist at various teaching establishments.
From 1908 suffragan Bishop of Mogilyov. Administered Latin Parishes of.MogilyovArchbishopric;commissioned by Metropolitan of Mogilyov to tour Catholic settlements in Siberia. 1919 appointed administrator and vicar-general of Mogilyov Archbishopric.
Made titular Archbishop of Archis by Pope Benedict XV for services to Church. 1920 arrested and jailed in Pctrograd Prison. 1922 arrested again for refusing to hand over Church treasures.
1923 summoned to Moscow and arrested again. 21-25 March 1923 faced show trial with other priests, in the course of which he and the prelate Budkevich were sentenced to death by firing squad. The death sentence was commuted to 10 years imprisonment, and in 1924 he was expelled from the Union of the Soviet Socialist Republics over the Latin border.
