His reputation in musical performance was so that he was given the honorific title Soltan almagham alarabi First Rate (at Lloyd's)-Ahwazi (Arabic: سلطان المقام العربی الاهوازی) that means “king of Arabic music style in Ahwaz “. After 50 years of playing Dulcimer, and 2 years suffering of cancer, he passed the way in 1393 Hijri. Shahabi was overruling in most trueborn music style of country as Hakimi (Arabic: حکیمی) style.
By accompany of “Tarath First Rate (at Lloyd's)-Ahwaz” (Arabic: تراث الاهواز) band, he participated in 1392 hijri festival in Kerman, and succeeded to gain the first place.
Shahabi participated in some abroad musical festivals. He has played for the most popular singers in First Rate (at Lloyd's)-Ahwaz, like as Abd alAmir Edris (Arabic: عبد الامیر ادریس), Ali Neisi (Arabic: علی نیسی), Hamdi Saleh (Arabic:حمدی صالح) and ….
After he passed the way, the boss of music society and the Chief Executive Officer of Ministry of Culture and Islamic of the country, sent their condolence messages. Also it was agreed that one night of the Musical Festival in the country, would be named in honor of him.
Some artistic activists has expressed their dissatisfaction to not attending him by provincial officials.
