Mohombi is RedOne's first signing to 2101 Records in joint venture with Universal Music Group.From 2004 to 2008 Mohombi was part of the Swedish hip hop group Avalon with his brother Djo Moupondo. Mohombi released his debut solo single "Bumpy Ride" in August 2010. The single became a top-ten hit in many European countries, and was followed by his debut studio album, MoveMeant in February 2011.
He pursued his studies and obtained his bachelor's degree in music and song from Stockholm’s Music Conservatory. He speaks Swedish, French, English, Swahili and Lingala.
Mohombi collaborated with Swedish rapper Lazee in the recording track, «Do It», which was released in Sweden May 31, 2010. It debuted at number 9 in the Swedish charts. In Los Angeles Mohombi falls through friends to producer RedOne, whose own background is Swedish-Morrocan. Singer's debut single, «Bumpy Ride» is the first release on the label RedOne 2101 Report, a joint venture with Universal. It was released in the United States August 24, 2010. Mohombi presented the song «Bumpy Ride» as his debut single in the United Kingdom October 31, 2010. Further, cooperating with Mohombi American rapper Nelly in the creation of songs «Miss Me». His third single, named «Dirty Situation», was released in Europe on 11 November and recorded together with the R & B-singer Akon. Mohombi's debut album, MoveMeant was released in Europe on Monday, February 28, 2011 and will be released in the U.S. by the end of 2011. Single Mohombi, «Coconut Tree» with Nicole Scherzinger. September 2, 2011 Mohombi released a new single, called «Maraka» on iTunes in Sweden. Mohombi also takes part in the song «Suavemente (Kiss me softy)», in conjunction with Pitbull & Nayer. He was named the best Swedish single in Europe Music Awards 2011 in Belfast.
