Bromberg graduated from Monash University with a Bachelor of Economics and a Bachelor of Laws, and was admitted as a solicitor in 1984.
He became a barrister in 1988 practising in industrial and employment law as well as constitutional, trade practices, administrative law and discrimination law. He ran unsuccessfully for preselection as the Australian Labor Party candidate for the Burke seat in 2001. He was appointed Senior Counsel in 2003 and was President of the Australian Institute of Employment Rights.
Bromberg"s appointment to the Federal Court of Australia commenced on 7 December 2009.
