Studied at Cowbridge Gram. School. Commenced life as mining engineer, subsequently a civil engineer Engaged on construction of L. & North-west Railway, Caledonian Railway, and L. & South-west Railway, also on railway work in Italy.
Constructed many hundreds of miles of railway in Russia, being chief resident engineer under the late Sir John Hawkshaw, P.
President, Institute.C.E., as consulting engineer During this period received several marks of favour from Czar Alexander World War II Foreign some time was general manager of Diinaburg and Witepsk Railway, and subsequently a director of the railway until it was purchased by the Russian Government.
Since retiring from the engineering profession has taken an active part in the public life of South Wales. Was Chairman of South Wales Union Bank until its amalgamation with Metropolitan Bank.
