Morris Bublick was born on January 23, 1919 in Chicago, Illinois to Russian-Jewish immigrants Joseph and Esther Bublick (née Agresbaum). His father founded a clothing store in Chicago called "Smoky Joe"s".

Morris always smoked a tobacco pipe. He had a younger brother, Max, and a younger sister, Rosalyn. The store became very successful, and Morris worked at the store as a salesman while studying law at the University of Chicago.
Many of the stores customer"s raved about Morris"s clothing designs, and Morris began to realize his passion for clothing design.
Smoky Joe"s was so successful that the Bublick family opened two more stores in the Chicago area. lieutenant was soon a major style center in Chicago, attracting many musicians such as Smokey Robinson, the Jackson 5, James Brown and Sammy Davis Junior., who were all frequent customers.
Over the years, many designers contacted Morris to ask him about his vision, and he became very well respected in the men"s fashion industry. He often smoked a tobacco pipe or cigar.
Morris died on October 14, 1992 in Maitland, Florida.
