Moshe Aumann was born on the 8th of October, 1926 in Frankfurt Am Main, Bayern, Germany. In 1938 the family fled to the United States to escape the Nazis.
Aumann studied at Rabbi Jacob Joseph High School and then at Yeshiva High School in New York in 1945. He graduated from City College of New York in 1950 with a degree in English, journalism, and social sciences. He moved to Israel in 1950.
Moshe Aumann worked as editor of "Chronicles – News of the Past" from 1951 to 1955. Then he was a managing editor of the weekly magazine "Here and Now" in 1956. Moshe Aumann was an author of "Land Ownership in Palestine, 1880-1984", "The Palestinian Labyrinth". He also was co-author of "Know the Facts – A Historical Guide to the Arab-Israeli Conflict". He translated books, atlases, and travel guides.
Moshe Aumann was the Consul General to mid – the Atlantic States and Ministry-Counsellor on Church Relations in the USA in 1987-1989. He worked at Foreign Minister’s Bureau in Jerusalem in 1990.
