Taki Mototaka was born in 1695. He descended from a long line of distinguished physicians and was the son of Genen Kimpo.
Taki served as court physician to the Shogunate in 1731. His outstanding devotion to medicine secured him the title of Hogen. In 1749 Mototaka changed his surname to Taki and later in 1765 he founded the Seijukan (medical school).
